OpenBSD on the thinkpad t480

Home Software Politics Misc.

(Gooey note, this is a remnant of the old site, and is formatted in a very cludgy way, however out of nostalgia and laziness, I have decided to leave most of this page unmodified, so pretty much all the links on this page are dead, sorry!)

I revently upgraded from a Lenovo Thinkpad t450 to the Lenovo Thinkpad T480, After trying openbsd on the T450, I wanted to put it on my new T480.

Bios Options

The first thing I did was customize the bios. For OpenBSD to function correctly, CSM support must be enabled, and secure boot and OS "Optimized defaults" Disabled. OpenBSD also has a quirk coming back from suspend that will make the cpu run at very high load, This can be fixed by either enableing Thunderbold BIOS assist or by disabling the thunderbolt device altogether. (You can still charge from the disabled thunderbolt port)
